Sculptures and Performance – 2024
A set of four sculptures of varying dimensions was activated through a performance held at the opening of the 3rd Margem Visual Festival—a peripheral performance event—at the Museum of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture (MUHCAB) on August 3, 2024.
During the performance, artist Mery Horta carried out a series of actions involving the sculpture that matches her own height (1.69m) and is crafted from discarded cashew wood and annatto.
The sculptures were also part of the festival's exhibition.
Curated by Mery Horta, Carolina Rodrigues, and Mariana Maia, the Margem Visual Festival has brought together over 47 artists and art collectives from the periphery of Rio de Janeiro state across its three editions, with funding from SECEC RJ and the Rio Municipal Department of Culture.
