Go ahead, I'm listening

Performance – Urban Intervention 2024

Fala que eu te escuto (Go ahead, I'm listening) took place on April 5, 6, and 7, 2024, as part of the 2nd edition of  Casa Pública, held at Afonso Pena Square (Tijuca, RJ), Praça XV (City Center, RJ), and Realengo Square (Realengo, RJ).
In this long-duration performance—spanning seven consecutive hours each day for a total of 21 hours—artist Mery Horta invites the public to share a story about their home via a landline telephone; in return, they receive a gift in the form of an action performed by the artist.
Casa Pública is a multidisciplinary platform developed by Mariana Paraizo and Mery Horta that explores the concepts of the public and the private within the realm of visual arts. Two editions of the project have received public funding from the Rio Municipal Department of Culture and SECEC RJ, featuring urban interventions in six public squares across Rio de Janeiro with works by artists André Vargas, Rafael Amorim, Ana Hortides, Andrea Hygino, Mariana Maia, Mariana Paraizo, and Mery Horta. Additionally, the event includes an art criticism seminar held at the Paço Imperial, coordinated by Thiago Fernandes and Bruna Costa and featuring the participation of undergraduate students.
