Performance - 2019

"In 'Papel do Corpo' (Body Paper), artist Mery Horta, with the audience's assistance, smudges the Aymoré Gallery space with palo santo. Next, using the charred end of the wood, she creates drawings of her body on tissue paper—employing printing techniques—while establishing a sonic, erotic, and ritualistic relationship with the paper.
Before the audience, Mery imprints drawings, sweat, and menstrual blood. The work concludes in a cathartic and surprising manner—a feat only an artist with mastery over her body could execute." – Text by curator Luana Aguiar
